Insurance rates are dependent on boat size, horsepower, boater experience and operational range. For a boat that’s $20,000 in value, rates start at $300/ year. For boats closer to $100,000 in value, rates begin around $1,500/ year in order to properly insure the vessel and its contents.
Claims and accidents are known to happen, even when we’re operating with the highest level of safety. We provide a 24/7 claims support service that’s there for you when such events occur.
Boat insurance is not mandatory in Ontario, however it is recommended. In the event you are financing a boat, you will be required by the bank to carry insurance until the loan is completed. If you moor your boat in a marina, you may need to carry a certain amount of liability insurance in order to continue housing your vessel at such a location.
No, your home policy is not designed to provide coverage for your watercraft. This must be added onto an additional rider. For this reason, we recommend considering an individual boat insurance policy.
