Do I need insurance on a pool or hot tub?

Your pool or hot tub should be covered under your home insurance policy, however liability coverage should be extended in the event of personal injury.

Will a swimming pool raise my home insurance premiums?

Since liability coverage should be extended, there may be a small charge for this (depends on the insurer).

Are there any insurance requirements for owning a pool?

First and foremost, all city bylaws must be followed.  You can usually find this information on city websites.  These requirements can include but not be limited to; pool fence, hand railings, non slip concrete around the pool along with proximity to structures.

Does homeowners insurance cover pool leaks or the pool liners?

Homeowners insurance covers sudden and accident damage caused by such things as wind storms, fire, lighting or hail. Homeowners insurance would not extend to damage done over a period of time which can be considered as more of a maintenance issue.

Does homeowners insurance cover an above-ground or in- ground pool collapse?

On the basis that its sudden and accidental caused by an insured peril such as wind. This would not cover if the pool was at the end of its life expectancy and collapsed due to age or condition .
